課程概述

The twin courses (ME5037 and ME5025) provide students the chance to design/develop/build a vehicle for a specific purpose. This is also the ‘capstone’ course for the [design and practice of electric vehicles] concentration at National Taiwan University. Students are expect to have basic vehicle knowledge and some hands-on experiences.

Course Objectives
Design a vehicle or vehicular systems/subsystems/components from scratch
Develop simulation environment to evaluate design outcomes
Build hardware to bring concept to reality
Estimate the performance outcome and revisit the procedure.
 
課程要求
Students should choose one of the topics below in 2024 before the 2nd week of the class.

1. Truck project (truck team): a class 2 light duty truck is to be converted into a electric truck. The team can also provide some smart sensing techniques to assist drivers handling the truck. The ultimate goal is drive-by-wire with computer drivers.

2. Vehicle carrier project (carrier team) : a mother ship with several light duty vehicles are to be designed/refined. The team should provide safe and efficient strategies such that deployments and retraction of these vehicles enables the true need in the field.

3. Race car project (race tea,): build a 1:1 or scaled down chassis vehicle that runs fast on tracks. The team should not only provide thorough simulations in the virtual environment, they should also build concept vehicles that do run as expected.

4. Vehicle platform (platform team) : build a 1:1 vehicle that can be used to test various control strategies, experiment driving decisions and link parameters with performances.
